The cardigan is worked top-down, partly in rows and partly in the round.. It is knitted in stockinette stitch, with the ribbing in 1×1 rib and the front placket in double knitting.
You start by working the back, shaping the slanted shoulders using German short rows, then continue in rows until the underarm. Next, stitches are picked up to work the right and left fronts in rows while shaping the neckline. Both fronts are worked separately until the underarm. Then the back and fronts are joined together and worked flat in rows down to the ribbing.
The sleeves are joined seamlessly to the body by picking up stitches. They are knitted in the round while decreasing stitches to shape them.
Both the double collar and the vertical double-knit placket are worked seamlessly. The placket is worked in double knitting, while the collar is worked flat in 1×1 rib.
The patch pockets are worked seamlessly by picking up stitches and knitting them flat in rows. They are then sewn onto the cardigan along the vertical edges.
